At 67 and 61, Rich and Donna weren’t strangers to love. In fact, Rich had only ever known his wife, having met her when they were teenagers. Donna, on the other hand, had a bit more experience in the dating game.
“I’m divorced and have dated a little, but still wasn’t sure if I was doing the whole ‘dating thing’ right!” she said.
Rich, a widower, signed up for OurTime two and a half years after losing his wife. Donna had tried other dating sites with little success, until she finally decided to give OurTime a try before calling it quits. That’s when Rich sent her a flirt.
“I had two weeks left on my subscription when Rich reached out,” Donna told us. “I thought ‘What the heck!’ and flirted back, told him he could write me if he wanted to, and things took off from there!”
However, the first few dates weren’t what Donna would describe as a fairytale romance.
“We were both kind of nervous,” she recalls. “There weren’t exactly sparks on that first date, but we set up a second anyway.”
Then, Rich started calling.
“Him calling me is what made me realize there was much more to him than I saw on our first date,” Donna said. “We talked on the phone every night before our second date.”
After that second date (an outdoor music concert at a fair), Rich and Donna’s new courtship began to build steam. By the third date, they were holding hands and feeling much more at ease with each other and now, three months later, are happy as can be.
“My advice for anyone searching is to keep looking and don’t give up!” Donna insisted. “I would’ve never seen Rich flirt at me if I had quit, and that makes me so sad to think about.”
As for what’s to become of this budding romance, Rich and Donna are one-day-at-a-time type of people.
“We try to live in the now,” Donna said. “All we know is we’re happiest when we’re together and feel truly blessed we found each other!”
We’re so happy for you, Rich and Donna, and wish you all the best!
